Far Fung Places Bhutan Travel

AFTER SHELTERING in place for more than two years, join us for a slower-paced two-week Bhutan Unfurling journey to Bhutan. Savor the beauty and spirituality of this all-Buddhist country from Paro to Tang Valley, treasured for its remoteness and culturally intact communities.

Among the first travel companies to market Bhutan to the outside world more than 30 years ago, Far Fung Places’ presents Bhutan from an experienced connoisseur’s perspective. We are the marketing agents for Bhutan Tourism Corporation Ltd in the USA and an independent guide-owned company, Bhutan by Karchung.

All our Bhutan Unfurling programs will be led by Karchung, Far Fung Places’ field manager in Bhutan.

Our Bhutan program unfurls to reveal the country’s artistic, spiritual, and ancient traditions.

Our journeys include distinguished lecturers from Bhutan’s highest ranks: a renowned monk provides a provocative talk on Mahayana Buddhism for the western mind.

A distinguished musicologist presents Bhutanese music with a private performance on traditional instruments. A best-selling Bhutanese author discusses the history of food in Bhutan, how food is used not only for nourishment but for rituals.

Visit the iconic religious sights like Tiger’s Nest, but also discover hidden Bhutan with a two night stay at Ogyen Choling Manor in Tang valley, a 400-year-old ‘living museum’ with rooms filled with treasured artefacts and items of everyday use going back to the trading days with Tibet.

Our programs are active with walking and hiking excursion, and even on our drives through the Black Mountains, we’ll stretch our legs to appreciate the great outdoors.

Each program highlights a festival where sacred dances performed by monks and laity invoke the deities of Tantric Buddhism. Dancers wear magnificent robes––some brocaded with cloud collars––some dance in solemn meditation and others leap and twirl to the steady beat of drums.

A Bhutanese guide of distinction will lead your group. With many years of experience, our expert guides are known for their depth of knowledge of all things Bhutanese and their wonderful sense of discovery.

Our programs include deluxe five-star hotels in Paro, Thimphu and a four star hotel in Punakha; in Tang valley, guests stay in a private 400-year-old manor, and in Bumthang, Trongsa, and Gantey travelers stay in three-to-four-star properties. Two of the properties are family owned and managed, offering personal interaction with two or three generations. The hotels we work with are extremely responsive to anyone with special dietary needs.

Our Bhutan Unfurling programs are designed for the Spring and Fall season, considered the best times to visit the kingdom. Our programs are limited to 3 rooms, with a minimum of three travelers to operate. Supplement for a trip for two persons: $200 per person. We are pleased to arrange a private trip for family and friends.
